SoTD: Say (All I Need)

OneRepublic
Album: Dreaming Out Loud
—–
Do you know where your heart is?
Do you think you can find it?
Or did you trade it for something,
Somewhere better just to have it?

Do you know where your love is?
Do you think that you lost it?
You felt it so strong, but
Nothing’s turned out how you wanted.

Well, bless my soul;
You’re a lonely soul,
‘Cause you won’t let go
Of anything you hold.

Well, all I need
Is the air I breathe,
And a place to rest
My head.

Do you know what your fate is?
And are you trying to shake it?
You’re doing your best and
Your best look;
You’re praying that you make it.

Well, bless my soul;
You’re a lonely soul,
‘Cause you won’t let go
Of anything you hold.

Well, all I need
Is the air I breathe,
And a place to rest
My head.

Say “I all I need
Is the air I breathe,
And a place to rest
My head.”

Do you think you can find it?
Do you think you can find it?
Do you think you can find it?
Better than you had it.

Do you think you can find it?
Do you think you can find it?
Do you think you can find it?
Yeah, better than you had it (better than you had it).

Say “I all I need
Is the air I breathe,
And a place to rest
My head.”

Say “I all I need
Is the air I breathe,
And a place to rest
My head.”

Do you know where the end is?
Do you think you can see it?
Well, until you get there
Go on, go ahead and scream it;
Just say it.

Heaven- a gateway, I hope.
Just like the feeling inside, it’s no joke.
And though it hurts me to treat you this way,
Betrayed by words I’d never heard, too hard to say.

Up, down, turn around,
Please don’t let me hit the ground.
Tonight, I think I’ll walk alone,
I’ll find my soul as I go home.
(x2)

Each way I turn, I know I’ll always try
To break this circle that’s been placed around me.
From time to time, I find I’ve lost some need
That was urgent to myself, I do believe.

Up, down, turn around,
Please don’t let me hit the ground.
Tonight, I think I’ll walk alone,
I’ll find my soul as I go home.
(x2)

Oh, you’ve got green eyes,
Oh, you’ve got blue eyes,
Oh, you’ve got grey eyes.

Oo, you’ve got green eyes,
Oh, you’ve got blue eyes,
Oh, you’ve got red eyes.
And I’ve never seen anyone quite like you before.
No, I’ve never met anyone quite like you before.

Thoughts from above hit the people down below;
People in this world, we have no place to go.
(x4)

Oh, it’s the last time, oh, it’s the last time,
Oh, it’s the last time, oh, it’s the last time, oh, it’s the last time.
Oh, I’ve never met anyone quite like you before.
Oh, no, I’ve never met anyone quite like you before.

SoTD: Angels on the Moon

Thriving Ivory
Album: Thriving Ivory
—–
Do you dream that the world will know your name?
So tell me your name.
Do you care about all the little things
Or anything at all?

I wanna feel all the chemicals inside, I wanna feel.
I wanna sunburn, just to know that I’m alive
To know I’m alive.

Don’t tell me if I’m dying, ’cause I don’t wanna know.
If I can’t see the sun, maybe I should go.
Don’t wake me ’cause I’m dreaming of angels on the moon,
Where everyone you know never leaves too soon.

Do you believe in the day that you were born?
Tell me, do you believe?
And do you know that everyday’s the first of the rest of your life?

Don’t tell me if I’m dying, ’cause I don’t wanna know.
If I can’t see the sun, maybe I should go.
Don’t wake me ’cause I’m dreaming of angels on the moon,
Where everyone you know never leaves too soon.

This is to one last day in the shadows,
And to know a brother’s love.
This is to New York City angels,
And the rivers of our blood.
This is to all of us, to all of us…

Don’t tell me if I’m dying, ’cause I don’t wanna know.
If I can’t see the sun, maybe I should go.
Don’t wake me ’cause I’m dreaming of angels on the moon,
Where everyone you know never leaves too soon.

You can tell me all your thoughts about the stars that fill polluted skies,
And show me where you run to when no one’s left to take your side.
But don’t tell me where the road ends, ’cause I just don’t wanna know.
No, I don’t wanna know.

Don’t tell me if I’m dying…
Don’t tell me if I’m dying.

SoTD: For Me, It’s You

Train
Album: For Me, It’s You
—–
If I ever find truth, I’m gonna let you know.
If I ever find faith, I’m gonna sit in every bit of its’ afterglow.
If I ever find a way to bring love here today,
You better bet your life that this is what I’ll say:
Give it if you’ve got it,
Get it if you don’t.

Take my hand in the meantime,
And let’s walk into the sunshine.
Everybody got something that they want to sing about, laugh about, cry about, it’s true;
For me, it’s you.

Give it away, give it away, give it away
If it’s something that you got layin’ round your house.
Man, let me tell ya if ain’t a kiss
It’s something that you’ll never miss.
Give it to somebody that don’t have a thing layin’ round, like a prayer or a sweet sound.
Give it if you’ve got it,
Get it if you don’t.

Take my hand in the meantime,
And let’s walk into the sunshine.
Everybody got something that they want to sing about, laugh about, cry about, it’s true;
For me, it’s you.

Give it to somebody that don’t have a thing,
Ain’t got soft shoes to dance or a love song to sing – no.
Get yourself on the right track,
Let somebody ride your back for a while.

If I ever find truth, I’m gonna let you know.
You better bet your life this is what I’m gonna say:  just give it away,
You can’t take it where you’re goin’ anyway.

Take my hand in the meantime,
And let’s walk into the sunshine.
Everybody got something that they want to sing about, laugh about, cry about, it’s true;
For me, it’s you.

SoTD: Boulders

New Found Glory
Album: Coming Home
—–
I feel locked away with the weight of the world on my shoulders;
Crashing on my head are boulders,
Made of lies and dust from all of us.

What of the bonds we’ve made?
They have started to fade.
We can’t control the time,
But right now I’ll take what I can get out of my life.

Medicate me again
so I fall away.
Medicate me now,
so I fall away.

I feel torn between two different sides of an opinion;
Don’t know what state I’ve been in,
Don’t believe in trust, for only one of us.

What of the progress made
That night we all forgave?
It was a thought out crime.
But you should take what you can get out of this life.

Medicate me again
so I fall away.
Medicate me now,
I fall away.

Medicate me again
so I fall away.
Medicate me now,
so I fall away.

I never said that I didn’t need you;
Put down your arms,
and wrap them both right around me,
Both right around me. (x4)

I love this song so much. That last chorus beginning with “I never said that I didn’t need you…” is absolutely amazingly arranged and sung. Even if you just listen to that section of the song, that’s the best part… but I think it’s also worth it to listen to the rest– that section after the rather depressing lyrics which came before it provides a heightened sense of lyrical contrast. It soars. Just listen, you’ll understand.
